PDF's
A PDF is created by software called Adobe Acrobat. You do not need to buy the software to read a PDF file. Download a reader version of the software from the Adobe Acrobat website. You cannot amend this type of file as it is merely for viewing information/approving artwork.

EPS
'Encapsulated Postscript' - a file format which can be read across different programs or PC and Macintosh computers.

TIFF
'Tagged Image File Format' - a file format for exchanging bitmapped images (usually scans) between applications.

JPEG or JPG
'Joint Photographic Experts Group' (JPEG) - a compressed file format. It is usually used for sending photographic files by email, or for displaying images on website.

GIF
'Graphics Interchange Format' - similar to JPEG files, but lower in quality. Also used for displaying images on website that are not in full colour.

RTF
Rich Text Format (RTF) is a file format that enables you to save text files from your word processing application, keeping the formatting - font information, text colour, and some page layout information. RTF format is intended for exchange between word processing applications.
